Robert Wilmot – Travelling Equine Producer, is based in Helmsley North Yorkshire, has over 30 years’ experience in working with most breeds of horses and over this time has come across just about every difficult – problem horse there is and has professionally shown horses at world championship level since the age of seventeen. 

Whatever your concern, whether it is a problem or difficult horse, breaking your horse to drive, confidence building for horse and or owner or just need general help and advice Robert Wilmot can help. “We are never in control of a horse they just think we are.”

Robert was born into a riding and trekking centre. Horses were a part of his life from the beginning and at aged four used to regularly go on twenty mile rides.

Carriage driving became Robert’s passion, and he broke his pony Circus to harness and aged eight Robert did his first three day event.

On leaving school at sixteen Robert went to work at Red House Stables in Darley Dale, an equestrian riding and commercial carriage driving yard, and was soon teaching people the art of riding and carriage driving. At Chatsworth Country fair Robert won the junior whip class.

Robert was then lucky enough to work for Peter Munt in Ascot, a professional showing and job master stable yard. Robert arrived at Peter’s yard put his suitcase on the carriage and spent the first week at Ascot race course for the Four in Hand World Championships. Quite an eye-opener!

Robert spent over eight years at Peters yard, breaking many horses to ride and drive as single, pair, tandem, team, randem and even a Llama. Showing in the coaching classes, for two years on the trot were unbeaten, competing in the three day event trails [FEI] both at home and abroad, the first horse team horse team to travel to America, representing Great Britain on numerous occasions, and as a horse stunt yard we were in many TV shows and films.

On leaving Peters yard Robert went on the train the first ever horse team to represent Ireland at the world championships set up a carriage museum and train the second horse team to represent Ireland. Robert Wilmot was also Reserve Supreme champion at The New Forest with a team of four year olds, And second at The Great Yorkshire show with a three year old in hand, this pony was placed every time out with Robert Wilmot.
